Breaking the Mould with Mox Monsters

Meet Kenneth, the founder of Mox Monsters, whose journey from naval diver to toy maker began with a life-changing accident. Discover how his Singapore team combines art, engineering and small-batch manufacturing to help independent creators bring collectable toys to life.

What does it take to turn a fleeting doodle on a napkin into a tangible, high-quality physical collectable?

If you ask Kenneth, founder of Mox Monsters—Singapore’s premier modern toy factory dedicated to small-batch collectable manufacturing—it takes grit, engineering precision, and a life-altering wake-up call.

In a compelling new series of YouTube Shorts, Kenneth pulls back the curtain on his raw, personal journey and reveals the exact engineering secrets behind scaling small-batch toy production.

A Near-Fatal Wake-Up Call: From Naval Diver to Toy Maker

Kenneth’s path to launching Mox Monsters wasn’t a traditional corporate story. It started in an ICU bed after a horrific motorcycle accident.

With six broken ribs, a fractured spine, a burst lung, and a shattered shoulder, the former Naval Diving Unit diver faced a reality check: life is too short to play it safe.

"I just decided that I want to do something that I will never regret when I get old."

Transitioning from social media management to fine toy painting, Kenneth honed his craft to an international standard, winning gold medals in Holland. But knowing that precision painting has an expiration date, he set his sights on a bigger mission: building an ecosystem that empowers independent creators to bring their 3D dreams to life without prohibitive development costs.

Engineering vs. Art: How Mox Monsters Scales Small Batches

Most people assume toy production is entirely creative. At Mox Monsters, Kenneth views the operation through a different lens: less studio, more precision engineering.

While 3D printing is great for one-off prototypes, scaling production through printing requires endless hours of sanding and processing for every single piece. Mox Monsters solves this bottleneck by bridging the gap between raw artwork and mass manufacturing:

  • 3D Modeling & Part Engineering: Transforming raw 2D sketches into production-ready 3D digital models.

  • Master Mould Making: Spending hundreds of hours perfecting the initial mould so the manual processing only happens once.

  • Injection Moulding: Operating like a precision photocopy machine, producing perfect individual toy parts every single minute.

  • Assembly, Paint, & Package: Hand-finishing and packaging market-ready collectables for creators worldwide.

By perfecting their internal moulding process over an entire year of testing, Mox Monsters enables artists to skip the astronomical tooling costs typical of massive overseas factories.

"Don't Do It Alone": Kenneth’s Advice for Creators

When asked what advice he would give to aspiring toy makers and creative entrepreneurs, Kenneth keeps it brutally honest:

“Don't play it too safe, and don't try to be a lone wolf.”

Early in his career, he tried to do everything himself. Realising his limits was the breakthrough that made Mox Monsters possible. By assembling a powerhouse team of sculptors, project managers, and illustrators, the factory transformed from a one-man shop into a full-scale enabling platform for artists.
